(This poem was translated from Maltese Language, “Flimkien”, by Mr Alfred Palma)
It’s been some time
since we’ve left the mist that shrouded us
and the past we clung onto.
We cradled with the water
which kept us both in health
even in times of drought.
And with the first few showers,
soon as the breeze was felt,
we complimented the sweet surge of water
that sweetly swung us on.
And as the reddish raylight,
around us shining on,
spread on us both as shelter,
the breeze inviting us to pleat
yesterday’s heat,
and run along in freedom
together.
