Areas of Interest
a. Mobile-mediated teaching and learning
I became interested in mobile-mediated teaching and learning when I was a teacher helping a group of students in basic skills mathematics. I learnt about the benefit of mobile phones. During my Masters in IT I developed a simple application which allowed students to test their abilities in basic skills mathematics. The main language used for development of applications was Java ME (formerly known as Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME)). Whilst I didn’t continue to develop my competences in programming for Android (which at that stage was still in its infancy) and other operating systems, I pursued my research in education particularly how mobile phones and tablets can be used in the classroom in a meaningful way.

I supported educators on a number of open education resources. And I also learnt from many others about open source and open education resources!

Together with a number of colleagues I worked on several curriculum maps which can guide Maltese teachers integrate technologies in their subjects.
